The Third Year with Pride!

The weather forecast was for rain all weekend. Wrong! Dry, partly sunny and the temperature quite comfortable for an activity outdoors in Oregon in the month of November. Our third annual fund raiser for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital / Cystic Fibrosis was held this fine fall weekend.About 7:55 a.m. beagle rabbit hunt Master of Hounds, Curt Wilcox, announced last call for registration and at 8:00 a.m. sharp the weekend competition began. We had 10 dogs for the registered class and 4 champion dogs in the beagle part of the day. New this year was a bench show for beagles. After running the winners pack Sunday morning only two dogs finished with champion points in the registered class. First place was my dog "Bounce" - whom has made Champion, and next was "Penople" owned by Kim and Jeff White. Hunting beagle field champion cast was won by "Danny Boy" owned by Jon Simonson. By the way, Jon says that makes Danny Boy a Grand Champion. Congratulation Jon and Danny Boy.Our bench show had only four dogs in the competition. After a good examination and observation of confirmation our bench show judge, Nora Cook, declared Missy Fix’s "Laddie" the bench show champion.Night falls fairly early in November here in Oregon, so in the dark of night, 8:00 p.m., I declared registration closed for the coonhound nite hunt of our fund raiser event. Four dogs were registered which made a good single cast of grade dogs. About 12:30 or 1:00 a.m. the grade dog cast returned to the headquarters, no plus points. No winner. With pleasure we recognize the owners of dogs that competed in this years event. Missy Fix, Jon Simonson, Ken Jorgenson, Jim Barnett, Jerry Ray, Kim and Jeff White, Jim Gee, Lyle Jack, Chris Baker, Babe Ray, Bob Baker, Curt Wilcox, Bob and Libby Wentz and Caleb Wilcox.
